16 Miles? Really?

Here I go trashing Oklahoma again.

The only thing pretty that I have ever seen in Oklahoma was the sun setting on the Red River.  I'll give Oklahoma credit for this, even though the Red River is the state line between it and Texas.  The sun sets in Texas, too, y'all.  I have mentally kicked myself a hundred times that I didn't have Randy turn around so that I could get a picture.  It was beautiful.

There's the tent caterpillar situation.  All long I-40 and Highway 69 there are tent caterpillars in most every tree.  Huge nests of them.  Now, if I were to be honest, there are also tent caterpillars in Arkansas.  But only because they are migrating from Oklahoma.

We've Adopted!

Randy and I have decided that in our advancing years, since we are so very much wiser now, that it is time to add to our family.

We decided that we wanted a girl, but we had a huge choice to make.  There were three little girls available to us, however one was a 2-1/2 hour drive in one direction and the other two were a 2-1/2 hour drive in the other direction.

You Have Got To Be Kidding Me

I have furnished Randy with a list of things to do if I should perish before him..  Not requests for music, poetry readings or flower choices for a funeral.  He knows better.  Nope, there ain't gonna no service.  Just cremate me in a cardboard box and toss the ashes out when he cleans the barbecue.  No muss, no fuss.

This list is helpful tidbits like when to change the sheets on the bed, where to find the sheets, how to cook rice, where to find the rice.  Regular life stuff.

Although, I have made Randy promise me that if I die in a fiery car crash, please oh please, do not put up any roadside memorial as a tribute to me.

Life Is Too Short For...

...Bad coffee.

When Randy and I go to our favorite place, the Ozarks in northern Arkansas, we usually stay at North Shore Resort on Bull Shoals Lake. On a recent trip, though, Randy and I decided to stay in town. When we made the reservations online, we both got confused as to which hotel we had stayed at once before and ended up choosing the wrong place. Oh, the room was okay. It had everything we needed, a bed, a bathroom and an internet connection. However, the one serious component to a pleasant stay for everyone concerned is the coffee.

How I Spent My Summer Thursdays In June Part I

Will and Sammy have spent Thursdays with us last month.

The first week I made sure Cristy dropped them off hungry so I could make them Mickey Mouse waffles for breakfast.  Debbie bought me this waffle maker for Christmas many years ago and it makes the best waffles.  Mickey has a lot of craters that hold butter and syrup.

Adventures in Hair

I color my hair with over the counter hair color.  I don't care who knows that fact about me.  Since moving to Texas, I have never cared less about my hair.  Oh, I do want to look nice, of course.  But with the wind that blows without fail nearly everyday, it's useless to worry about it.  And I am not about to shellac my hair with hairspray.

A good hair day for me is my barometer on the wind volicity.  The better the hair day, the stronger the wind will blow.  The worst though, is when my hair blows into my lipstick.

I dislike immensely getting hair in my lipstick.  But I will never venture anywhere without lipstick or lip gloss.  I will go without hairspray and on the rare occasion makeup, but never without lip gloss.

Some Assembly Required

I am in charge of the DVR at our house and I try to record TV shows that Randy may like to watch.  It wouldn't be nice to make him watch shows like Drop Dead Diva and Glee all the time.  Though he did  watch Bridezillas last night without too much complaint.

Eggs Are...

In my world, eggs are everything that is nasty, gross and disgusting.  While I make every attempt to use 'dislike immensely' in place of the word 'hate', eggs are the one thing where I will make an exception.
